Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about sharing your story on OneStoryPlanet, privacy, safety and the community.
What is OneStoryPlanet?
OneStoryPlanet is a storytelling platform where people share authentic, real-life personal stories as videos, voice recordings or written messages. Stories are private by default, and each storyteller chooses what the world sees.
Who founded OneStoryPlanet?
OneStoryPlanet was founded by Odelia Blankroth to create a home for real voices and lived experience — "authentic personal stories beyond the feed".
How is OneStoryPlanet different from social media?
OneStoryPlanet is built around complete personal stories rather than an endless feed. Stories are private by default, public stories are organized by life themes like love, loss, recovery and starting over, and the focus is on real experience rather than polished content.
Is OneStoryPlanet free?
Yes. Creating an account and sharing your stories is free. Optional features such as sending gifts to storytellers use coins that can be purchased.
How do I share my story?
Create a free account, then choose how to tell your story: record or upload a video and edit it in the built-in story editor, record a spoken story with your voice, or write a message. You can keep it private or publish it publicly.
What kinds of stories can I share?
Any true story from your own life. Popular themes include love, loss and grief, addiction and recovery, sexual identity and coming out, conflict, art, starting over, compassion, conquering fears and finding your passion. Please follow the creator guidelines.
How long should my story be?
There is no perfect length. Many of the most powerful stories are a few minutes long: focus on one moment or turning point, say what happened, and share what it meant to you.
Do I need special equipment to record a video story?
No. A phone or laptop camera is enough. Find a quiet spot with light in front of you, hold the camera steady at eye level, and speak as if you were telling the story to a friend.
Are stories reviewed before they are published?
Yes. Video stories and written stories are reviewed by the OneStoryPlanet team before they appear publicly, to keep the community safe and in line with the creator guidelines.
Can I keep my story private?
Yes. Every story on OneStoryPlanet is private by default. You decide whether a story stays private or is published for others to see.
Is it safe to share my story online?
You stay in control: stories are private unless you choose to publish them, and public stories are reviewed against the creator guidelines. Before publishing, avoid sharing details such as your address or other people's private information.
Can I delete my story or my account?
Yes. You can delete your stories, and you can delete your account from your profile settings.
Where can I find help if my story brings up difficult feelings?
If you are in crisis, contact your local emergency number. In the US you can call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call the SAMHSA National Helpline at 1-800-662-4357 for substance use support.
How can I support a storyteller?
You can like, comment on and share their story, follow them, and send them a gift. Storytellers can connect a payout account to receive what they earn.
What is the Creator Showdown?
The Creator Showdown is OneStoryPlanet's storytelling contest. Creators submit stories, the community votes, and winners receive cash prizes. See the Creator Showdown page for the current rules and prizes.
How can I contact OneStoryPlanet?
