Stories About Loss and Grief
Grief can feel unbearably lonely. Hearing someone else describe the same ache, in their own voice, can be the first moment it feels a little less so. These are true stories about loss: the death of a parent, partner, child or friend, a miscarriage, a lost home, a lost career, or a future that never arrived.
Some storytellers are years into their grief; others are speaking about it for the first time. None of them have it figured out — and that is the point. If you are grieving, you are welcome to listen, and to share your own story when it feels right.
Does sharing a story about loss help with grief?
Many people find that putting a loss into words helps them process it and feel less alone, and that their story helps others who are grieving. There is no right time — share only when it feels right for you.
Can I share a grief story privately?
Yes. Stories are private by default, so you can record your story just for yourself and decide later whether anyone else should see it.
What kinds of loss can I share?
Any loss that changed you — the death of someone you love, pregnancy loss, the end of a relationship, the loss of health, a home, a job, or the life you expected.
